Sylvie LaPerrière is a builder of the Global Internet. An expert in peering and international network interconnection agreements, she is a strategic negotiator for Google’s Content Distribution and Network team. Before joining Google, she created and then expanded Tata Communications’ Internet backbone in more than 25 global markets. Operating in the international telecommunications arena for two decades, Sylvie has a solid experience developing and managing Internet, data and mobile services. As negotiator of business agreements, she has an extensive experience dealing with global, regional and national telecom and Internet operators.

Sylvie is a recognized leader in the Global Internet community and is involved in the governance of local, national and global non-profit organisations. She currently chairs the Board of Directors of two Internet Exchanges, the Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX) and the Montreal Internet Exchange (QIX.ca). She serves on the Board of Directors of two R&D organizations, Canada’s Advanced Research and Innovation Network (CANARIE) and PROMPT.

She volunteers to promote Science and Technology Careers with high-schoolers (TechnoMontreal) and the advancement of women in the ICT sector. She received her Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing and Information Systems from École des Hautes Études Commerciales de Montréal. She is married and has three teenagers.

Philippe Beaudoin

Philippe Beaudoin is a developer at Google where he works on constantly improving the Chrome browser. He holds a Ph.D in Computer Science and taught virtual bipeds to walk by themselves during his postdoc at UBC. Philippe also founded ArcBees, specializing in cloud-based development. Prior to that he worked in the videogame and graphics hardware industries. When he has some free time, Philippe likes to invent new boardgames, including Québec which was published to celebrate the 400 year anniversary of the famous city.
