Remember back in March when a giant container ship ran aground in the Suez Canal, paralyzing global shipping traffic for nearly a week and causing billions of dollars in losses?
Whether the incident was due to human error, technical difficulties or adverse weather conditions, it clearly demonstrates the need, for both officers and crew, to be well prepared so as to be able to prevent risks and respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations.

While it’s clear that the success of your business stems in large part from a good idea, conducting market research is an essential step in your project’s strategic planning and validation.
That’s especially true today as search engines (the de facto tool when searching the web) can bring up a wide range of incomplete, outdated or even erroneous data.
In addition, and as tempting as it may seem, investing heavily in R&D to develop your competitive advantage will not guarantee that your innovation will find buyers if you only have a partial understanding of the target market and customers or of the commercial, technological, legal and socio-political risks that you might be faced with.
Mr. Filion has authored numerous books, notably on entrepreneurship, and carried out various international interventions.
Mr. Filion joined the Board of Directors at CEIM’s inception, in 1996, at the invitation of Mrs. Hélène Desmarais, Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer.
Mr. Filion has been a key member of our Board of Directors. His wise counsel, judicious questions and fair and cordial words of encouragement have contributed to the continuous improvement of CEIM. We are very grateful to Mr. Filion and sincerely thank him.
