New consortium formed to accelerate the commercialization
of indie games from Quebecc

This announcement comes at a critical time for an industry that is currently undergoing profound changes, and for Quebec studios that are under increasing pressure to strengthen their autonomy as well as their commercialization and go-to-market capacities if they are to stand out on the international scene.

CEIM selected from among 13 regional organizations
to receive CED funding over the next four years

Montreal, November 12, 2024 – The Honourable Soraya Martinez Ferrada, Minister of Tourism and Minister responsible for Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED), announced earlier this morning a total of $16M in financial support to 13 supporting organizations selected following a call for proposals and recognized for their significant contribution to the success of Quebec’s young startups.

This latest non-repayable contribution of $800,000, provided under CED’s Regional Economic Growth through Innovation program, will enable CEIM to offer, through a highly personalized and result-oriented approach, coaching and consulting services that are primarily focused on commercialization, with a view to accelerating the development and competitiveness of emerging technology companies across Quebec.

GardaWorld is the world’s largest private security company

Montreal, November 4, 2024 – CEIM and Société d’Investissement Jeunesse (S.I.J.) are particularly proud to highlight the significant transaction led, alongside a group of investors, by Mr. Stephan Crétier, Founder, Chairman, President and CEO of GardaWorld which today values the company at C$13.5 billion.

Founded in Montreal in 1995, GardaWorld was indeed awarded financial support by the Société d’Investissement Jeunesse Fund as early as 1996 (just one year after its inception), a fund that played a modest, yet determining role in the company’s rise to global leader in the security industry.

The transaction, which also enables Mr. Crétier and senior management to hold approximately 70% in the company, marks the largest private buyout in Canadian history.

The company, which announced the closing of a $2.8 million financing round last November and that now boasts over 1,000 points of sale across North America, is experiencing rapid growth, driven by consumers increasing demand for eco-friendly products that are both good for health and the planet.

Montreal, March 20, 2024 – CEIM is proud to announce that it has awarded, through the Société d’Investissement Jeunesse (S.I.J.) impact fund, a total of $200,000 in funding to Landerz, a young Proptech startup specializing in the search, purchase and sale of land with high development potential.

This funding, part of a $1.5 million seed round financing round led by Accelia Capital and the Government of Quebec, through its delegate Investissement Québec, along with financial support from BDC and PME MTL, will enable the company to pursue the development and commercialization of its platform aimed at accelerating large-scale land transactions.
