PowerPoint Presentation

In 2012, as in previous years, intellectual property strategy has been identified among the critical success factors of leading businesses, large and small. For start-ups, who have neither the means nor the critical mass of many of their established competitors, intellectual property assets are often the key differentiator to leverage their position and stay afloat long enough to build value and attract investors or acquisition candidates. These latter are, in fact, ever more sceptical towards businesses that have either no IP assets of value or no real IP strategy to speak of. The evolution of the global market place during 2012 has only further accentuated this situation.

It is, therefore, crucial to the success of a business start-up in 2013 to fully understand the issues around intellectual property and the associated risks and opportunities. Our speaker will assess the trends observed during the last year in Canada, the US and around the world, review the top errors committed by start-ups relative to their IP and explain the importance and value of developing a solid IP strategy as early as possible.
