The Government of Canada shortlists
CEIM’s Quebec Innovation Project
(Montreal, June 20, 2014). The Centre d’Entreprises et d’Innovation de Montréal (CEIM) and its
Quebec Innovation Project have been selected by the Government of Canada to advance in the
selection process of the Canada Accelerators and Incubators Program (CAIP).
The announcement was made today in Waterloo, by the Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper.
CEIM is one of a select group of Canadian incubators and accelerators chosen for their
outstanding performance, based on strict eligibility and selection criteria.
CAIP is delivered, on behalf of the Government of Canada, by the National Research Council’s
Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP). On successful completion of the CAIP selection
process, CEIM will receive funding over a period of five years, in the form of non-refundable contributions.
This program will enable CEIM to expand the range of services it offers innovative start-up and early growth
stage companies, in order to increase the pipeline of SME’s presenting investment opportunities
and high, sustainable growth potential.
Furthermore, CEIM’s Quebec Innovation Project, in partnership with McGill University, will develop and
implement an infrastructure that reinforces industry-university collaboration, and encourages the creation
of spin-off companies. Under this agreement the two organizations will combine their efforts to build synergies
for the benefit of entrepreneurs and thus the economic development of Québec and Canada. This partnership will
also strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem already in place in Montreal’s Quartier de l’Innovation.
